First Mouse Caught and Proud Kitten

Jonatan isn’t even five months old yet, but he’s already well on his way to becoming the farm’s official Minister of Mice.

Just the other day, his first catch was loudly reported – and of course, it was Jonatan himself who did the reporting. Loud and clear.

When we’re outside on the farm, this little guy is always tagging along. And with his GPS on, we can track him if he suddenly slips away on a “very important mission.”
But usually, he’s easy to find – he’s never alone. Honestly, it seems like the other cats have formed a guard rotation to keep an eye on the little one.

Jonatan is as social as they come, and he’d rather follow right at our heels than go off alone. Whatever we’re doing outside must be investigated, sniffed, climbed on, tasted, or knocked over. Small, curious kitten paws rarely sit still.

Tiger Forest has become his personal am(o)usement park, and there’s no shortage of opportunities to test his hunting instincts.
It has everything a little kitten could dream of: crunchy leaves from last year, bugs that tickle your nose, trees to climb, and now and then – a mouse!

Thanks to a mild winter, the mouse population has boomed. When the snow melted, the field revealed a maze of mouse trails that made Oslo’s rush hour traffic look organized. Roads, paths, tunnels – mouse tracks everywhere.

Our two red-furred mouse patrols have been working overtime with all this “roadwork.”
And young Jonatan? Of course, he was given his very first big assignment: Guard duty at the busy mouse intersection “Sinsen road cross” in Tigerskog Field.

And yes – the mice didn’t stand a chance. With so many of them bumbling around like they’d had too many energy drinks and a touch of moonshine, you don’t exactly need years of hunting experience.
Security-cat Kasper supervised from a short distance.
Jonatan just stood there, paws ready, claws sharpened – and bam – catch!

He’s already come home with mice twice. And every time, he storms through the door like he’s just won Olympic gold.
With his tail straight up and the prey dangling proudly from his mouth, it must be presented and explained – just how dangerous, big, long, and tall this mouse was. Clearly a record catch, according to Jonatan himself.

A bit of fine-tuning to his technique, and he’ll earn his certified mouse hunter badge from the red-furred examiners.

Odin, to put it mildly, is fascinated by these “toys” Little Jonatan keeps dragging home. He gave resuscitation a try a couple of times – but quickly realized there wasn’t much life left to work with.

So yes, the local mouse population should start trembling in their fur. If Jonatan has come this far in just five months, it might be time to apply for relocation – a nice mouse vacation, far away from this farm, is highly recommended.
The ones who stick around and dare cross the fence? Brave. Or just very, very foolish.

Baltus and Jonatan

Baltus and Jonatan have had some lovely little meetups – two well-mannered young cats enjoying each other’s company. But one day, their visit took an unexpected turn when Jonatan, now five months old and full of hormones, suddenly transformed into a little Viking from Tiger Forest.
