Day 2
Yesterday’s adaptation went smoothly - perhaps too smoothly to be true, some might think. Either way, it was incredibly nice to get a good night's sleep from the very start.
The furry gang slowly but surely woke up around 8:00 AM. Odin was the first one up - he needed to go out, and it was urgent! Jesper was still asleep in his basket. Knowing him, he had probably been up for a few hours earlier with Kasper and was now just recharging his batteries.
Jonatan slowly slid out of bed, probably wondering if everything he experienced yesterday was just a dream. But then, like a flash of lightning, he came rushing in from his bathroom break - a quick reality check confirmed that yesterday's adventures were no dream but reality!
A half-wild dog and two semi-old ginger cats had replaced his mother and three tiny, sweet sisters.
Life had suddenly taken a sharp turn - that’s for sure!
At least today is officially Day 2 in the Tiger Forest. The plan? To pick up where we left off yesterday: playing, bonding, and building trust.
That was the plan, at least…
Breakfast Chaos
A well-known challenge when you have animals of different ages is mealtime.
This morning’s breakfast went something like this:
-
Jesper and Kasper ate kitten dry food.
-
Odin ate Jesper and Kasper’s dry food.
-
Jonatan ate Odin’s dog food.
-
Jonatan also stole Odin’s turkey neck, while Odin shredded every tiny cat toy that belonged to Jonatan.
But everyone was perfectly happy!
Now, everyone gets their dry food in the kitchen to prevent "Happy Hotdog" from gobbling up all the food at the base. In the kitchen, he knows what belongs to him and what belongs to the cats. However, if someone stumbles across a food bowl in the bathroom, the contents disappear silently and without a trace - of course.
The free-access dry food has now been replaced with one suitable for cats of all life stages, with a sprinkle of kitten food on top as a bonus.
In addition, the senior gang gets wet food once a day - and Jonatan gets wet food specially designed for kittens. The plan is to introduce him to raw food over time and see if he likes it.
The “Happy Hotdog” already gets raw food once a day, so Jonatan can have his own meal since he still eats several small meals throughout the day. The senior gang, on the other hand, sometimes takes care of their own raw food… outdoors.
Bathroom Confusion
Yesterday, bathroom routines went smoothly. Today? A total mix-up.
Jonatan used Jesper’s litter box, while Kasper and Jesper used Jonatan’s.
At this point, we might as well put up an "Occupied" sign on the bathroom door so everyone can do their business in peace!
Then came Kasper’s great dilemma - should he go out? Or stay in? Or go out again?
He is completely obsessed with little brother Jonatan and refuses to go outside without him. Kasper clearly thinks he has shown Jonatan everything indoors, and now it’s time for an outdoor tour: the chicken coop, the tempting quails, the "bird restaurant," the woodshed, and the mouse hole in the barn corridor.
No point in sitting inside when there’s so much fun and excitement waiting outside!
Okay, Kasper - you win.
On goes Jonatan’s harness, and off they go for a quick guided tour around the farm in the beautiful spring weather.
