The Time Has Come.
New year, new opportunities – as the saying goes.
Jesper is turning 12, and Kasper is turning 9 – where did the years go?
Suddenly, they’ve become senior cats, and almost senior. Luckily, they’re both healthy and happy. They, and we, have been lucky to live a good life, mostly healthy and strong. There have been a few bumps along the way, but that’s to be expected when you’re living life to the fullest. I hope they still have many wonderful years ahead. I think it’s great to be able to enjoy life, and I hope they can look back on everything they’ve done in their lives with pride.
But what happens if one of them passes away? Should we stop with the Jesperpus project? What will our followers do?
We got Kasper because people thought Jesper was truly unique. We thought he was just an ordinary cat. Kasper was the opposite – a stray, without human contact at first. Could Kasper walk on a leash, travel, and do everything Jesper did? Maybe people would realize that cats are just as eager to learn and tolerate a lot if only given the chance.
Jesper and Kasper have grown into mature adults. They are much more affectionate and relaxed. Still strong-willed, but with a much calmer demeanor. They hate the cold and snow, and for the past two months, they’ve happily stayed on the top step of the stairs.
Kasper still carries some traits from his early days as a stray. He’s a little more nervous, a little more jumpy, and more cautious with new things, sounds, and people. But now he’s truly become a cuddle machine.
Kasper is happiest with his life as a farm cat, where he doesn’t have to join in on too many adventures. Jesper is happy to join in when he feels like it, but not too often. So we limit it to just what he seems comfortable with.
There are fewer outings and activities now, but a lot more cuddles – or maybe just lots more cuddles.
For those of you who complain that your cat isn’t affectionate: hang in there. It will come with age – it took 10 and 9 years here. Patience is key.
The group is much calmer, even with our energetic dog Odin. Kasper still keeps watch inside and outside to monitor his territory. But even he’s become a little rounder around the edges. Well, unless Odin gets the idea to chase a ball or something indoors. That’s when Kasper steps up and makes sure everyone is in line – no roughhousing inside!
If we’re to continue the Jesperpus project, it might be the right time to add another cat.
The group is calmer, more experienced, and has plenty of knowledge to share with a new companion.
After having so many followers for so many years – people who have stuck with us, never given up, and who have been asking for a Jonatan – maybe now is the time to give back. We finally have the time and the opportunity to give you all the Jonatan you’ve been asking for.
