In the capital of Southern Norway.
Let me first tell a bit about the city i have been visiting:
Kristiansand is Norway's eighth-largest city, located on the southern coast of the Agder county.
It was founded in 1641 by the Danish-Norwegian king, Christian IV. Kristiansand is situated by the Skagerrak and serves as the gateway to the Continent with several daily ferry departures. The trip over to Hirtshals in Denmark takes only three and a half hours.
Kristiansand is known as a summer city and attracts a large number of tourists. The climate is mild with good temperatures in the summer months. Winters are mild, and it doesn't snow every year.
The Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park is Norway's second most visited tourist attraction and definitely worth a visit.
You should spend at least a couple of days here to see everything.
Otherwise, the city offers the "Mediterranean" atmosphere in the summer, with "Bystranda" in the center and many popular restaurants at Fiskebrygga and Markensgate.
If you're lucky, you can attend one of the many festivals the city offers. The most famous is probably Palmesus.
Kristiansand is also a popular student city, with the University of Agder having approximately 10,000 students.
And here is the Travel blog:
From the snowy Eidsvoll, I decided to travel south to celebrate Easter.
I was tired of snow and wanted to experience a city Easter. I chose Kristiansand, where I would visit Dumle and his owner.
Dumle is a one-and-a-half-year-old playful, mischievous, lively, and very cuddly ragdoll boy who is already the father of seven little ones and will become a dad again in May.
But now it seems like it's the end of kittens for Dumle.
He told me he had been to the vet, and she had taken care of it!
I arrived in Kristiansand with the travel company "Posten" on the last Friday in March. The trip south went well, but I was surprised when I looked out and saw that there was indeed snow here too!
Dumle isn't so fond of snow, but we went out and got some fresh air anyway. The snow disappeared after a few days, and it was really nice in the sun.
After a few days, Dumle had to leave and would be gone for two days.
Then I stayed with his owner, and we even took a boat trip abroad. I didn't get seasick because the weather was nice.
Then it was Easter, and I got to know a couple of chickens and some rabbits at Dumle's place. The chickens were a bit scary!
I wanted to go to the Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park to meet relatives and other furry friends, but unfortunately, mice and cats are not allowed inside.
So I had to settle for a horseback ride on Dumle's good friend Lauritz Lama at home. That was also fun!
After a lovely and eventful city Easter, I am now heading north.
Thank you, Kristiansand!
I would love to come back in the summer!
Best
Marta Mus.
